Welcome Kindergators!
Kindergarten Program at St. Aloysius Gonzaga
At St. Aloysius Gonzaga, our full-day kindergarten program offers young learners a joyful, faith-filled, and supportive environment to begin their educational journey. Our program is aligned with both the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the State of Ohio's approved kindergarten curriculum, ensuring that our students receive a well-rounded, quality education that meets all state standards. By balancing academic structure with creative and movement-based activities, our curriculum engages every child’s curiosity and supports their growth academically, socially, and spiritually.
Comprehensive Curriculum with Individualized Support
Our kindergarten curriculum incorporates core subjects and is enriched with hands-on activities, music, art, and movement to engage each child's unique learning style. We follow a science-based approach to reading through Guided Phonics and Beyond, and our math lessons utilize KinderMath, a program designed to make foundational math skills accessible and enjoyable. The program covers essential areas:
- Religion: Daily lessons instill Catholic values and include Theology of the Body to help students understand the beauty of creation and God’s love.
- English Language Arts (ELA): From phonics and writing skills to reading CVC words, our ELA program provides a solid literacy foundation.
- Math: Using KinderMath, we introduce math through play and problem-solving activities, helping students develop essential skills.
- Science and Social Studies: Age-appropriate topics introduce students to the natural world and our community.
- Health & Safety: Lessons emphasize personal wellness, safe choices, and healthy habits.
- Art and Music: Weekly classes in art and music offer creative outlets and build confidence in self-expression.
- Physical Education: Regular activities develop physical coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
To address each student's unique learning pace and needs, we utilize iReady as a diagnostic tool. This online platform on iPads provides customized reading and math support tailored to each child's progress, ensuring they grow at their own pace while reinforcing key skills. Small Class Sizes and Personalized Attention
With both a lead teacher and a classroom aide, our kindergarten program maintains a low student-to-teacher ratio, creating an intimate and nurturing environment where every child is known, supported, and valued. Teachers use center time as an opportunity to tailor lessons to individual learning needs and encourage social and emotional development through group activities, creative play, and targeted skill practice.
Our approach ensures each child is supported both academically and personally, making their kindergarten experience one where they feel safe, loved, and ready to learn.
