In Thanksgiving for Priests
Who baptized you? Your children? Who granted you
absolution in a way that was a turning point in your
faith journey? Who officiated at your wedding?
Pope Benedict has declared this to be the “Year for
Priests.” During Thanksgiving weekend reflect on the
gift of the priesthood to your life. Then during Advent,
send of note of gratitude to those priests who are
Christ present to us.
Thank you to Sarah Frohmuller from the Archdiocesan
Office of Priest Personnel for supplying the
addresses for these
priests who have served St. Aloysius Parish.

Come and discuss Catholic social principles for our
world today. They are part of the Catholic tradition
inspired by the Spirit of God. These are practical ideas
concerning society and government and are very useful in
helping us live well and peaceably with our neighbors.
The first discussions will concern the dignity of the
human person, which is the basis of all the social
teachings of the Church, and then proceed to discuss
human rights, which follow from our God given dignity.
Caring about each other and personal responsibility are
necessary in society for every person to grow and
develop into a whole and mature person using all the
abilities God has given them.
Each of the following four topics will be discussed on
Monday evenings and Friday mornings on the dates shown
above. Come to one or all of them. No pre-work is
required. No books are needed. Copies of the discussion
notes will be provided.
Week 1:
“The Dignity of the Human Person”
Week 2: “Human Rights”
Week 3: “Subsidiarity (Less is better)”
Week 4: “Solidarity (neighborliness or brotherhood) and
